grown to over eight artists and functions as a promotions company.
CEO Willie “Bay-D” Spratt has worked in the music business for
several years including work as an account executive for Radio One,
Inc. Willie’s tenacity and business expertise has assisted him with
making some major moves on the Midwest music scene. FyreBoy was a
word that was picked up from a friend. “She used to say the word "Fyre" all of the time and it meant that something was ahead of its
time or on top of the game,” explains Spratt.
In the time that FyreBoy Records has been in existence, the label has been able to build a fan base and strong regional presence. The core of the marketing strategy is reaching out to labels in different markets and cross collaborating. The company has built its fan base by bringing in national artists for quality showcases and building personal relationships with the management of several of these artists. Through these relationships, FyreBoy has been able to bring the same artists to other markets in the region with connections in Memphis, Louisville, Kansas City, Chicago, Indianapolis, and St. Louis the company has a strong regional base. In July 2010, FyreBoy Records signed its first major deal with iMG Recordings, which is distributed through Universal Music Group.
